FA0818 Mossberg Shockwave 590 12 Gauge Dry Mini Library provides firearm foley coverage for the Mossberg Shockwave 590 12 Gauge. The library includes chambering, safety switch, shell ejections and more. Captured at 96k 24bit the library has more than 140 stereo and ambisonic sounds (total of 280 sounds).

The Mossberg 590 Shockwave is a modern take on the traditional pump action shotgun. Although the Mossberg 590 Shockwave carries the hallmarks of the common field and game variants of shotguns, it is much smaller with a 14” barrel, faster action, and is lighter in weight. The Mossberg 590 Shockwave can hold up to 6 rounds which lends to a dynamic firing experience.

After my friend let me in on recording his CZ Scorpion, he also had a Mossberg Shockwave12 Gauge just hanging out. Just like free pizza, I could not help myself from asking about the 590 since everything was still setup! I used the same dual Schoeps and Soundfield setup I had previous with the CZ Scorpion. Again, one thing to note is the microphones were not able to fit in the same space. The recorded images do vary.

Starting as a sound editor many years ago, I recall what a demanding task it was to find modern libraries that were relevant to the type of work I was doing. With recent offerings increasing, libraries have become considerably better. Through the introduction of more immersive formats from Dolby Atmos to a plethora of VR platforms, variety and quality have become vitally important. I am not a person that shies away from different and modern recording techniques. Improving the way I can capture, deploy, and deliver sounds has always been a goal.

I have enjoyed building sound libraries, and over the years, I have created many mini-collections for jobs I’ve worked on. I try to squeeze every ouch of performance out of my equipment and abilities. With the idea to make some of these libraries commercially available. My goal is to share something I love doing and offering them to the maturing world of immersive sound libraries. I savor the new adventures it leads me on! I want to invite everybody to come along with me, sonically and visually!
