Spatial Rain & Thunders is an immersive collection of audio ambiences for cinema, VR, videogames and any audiovisual or creative purposes.
The audios provided in this library are high quality recordings with Zoom H2n recorder in Spatial Audio mode, horizontal-only ambisonic alike mic layout stored in an AmbiX format. W, X, Y channels of AmbiX provide immersive audio through the horizontal plane and they allow to decode the recording into Mono, Stereo, Binaural, Quad, 5.0, 5.1, 7.1 and more layouts with dedicated Ambisonic processors. Z channel is empty.
The library comes with 5.0 and Stereo version of the AmbiX original recordings.

These audio files are perfect for roomtone soundscapes containing construction work from neighbors or, with some clever tweaking, from a close-by building where the scene is set for any desired VR experience. Given the nature of ambisonics, you can easily convert these B Format files onto any desired format (like regular stereo, 5.1 or 7.1 surround) with the correct plug-in, like RØDE’s own SoundField, which happens to be free to download. Asturian sound editor and designer Oscar de Avila is the main recordist of this Library. He begins his career in the mid 90s as a music composer and sound editor for audiovisual media, carrying out numerous projects for several institutions and film production companies in the Principality of Asturias.
This large compilation of registers formed by forced sounds, dark and electrical textures and industrial-themed backgrounds have been registered in 2019 at the most important and strategic areas (they had difficult access and permits were hard to get) around some industrial locations in the Principality of Asturias,Spain, which is my home place, as I was working for a documentary website on Asturian industrial historic heritage as the only responsible for sound design and editing (patrimoniuindustrial.com).

Featuring 38 pristine nature recordings from remote locations across the U.S., Biophony delivers a diverse collection of ambient environmental sounds. To capture these sounds, recordist Jason Strawley and videographer Andrew Garraway traveled to four states from Florida to California with the goal of capturing a variety of ecosystems including swamps, ponds, and forests. The result is a dense collection of vibrant wildlife recordings brimming with life. According to Strawley, one of the most difficult aspects of the process was finding locations unaffected by human intervention, be it noise pollution or the overarching effects of climate change. In his own words:
“Human-made noise pollution foiled many a recording, forcing us to travel to more and more remote locations. We should all be advocating to preserve more wild lands, but it’s not just about the land – we need to preserve the soundscape and darkscape as well. Some national parks are doing a great job with this and I hope we can contribute to awareness in some tiny way.”

Last September we celebrated holidays in our new town, and we recorded more than 20 minutes of the firework night show from a close position. We recorded it in ambisonic (Zoom F8 and Sennheiser Ambeo VR Mic), and decoded and mixed in Dolby ATMOS at AdHoc Studios.

Insectus is a special Ambisonics sfx library: we’ve been through lot of experimentation in that time with different approaches regarding the best way to deliver this bizarre package of sounds.
So what is it exactly? Just think about the sound-designed material as a background sweetener. We’ve called it Insectus not only for its Latin roots, but also because it comes from the fusion of two word: Insect+Tinnitus.
We used the higher octave of the spectrum in an odd way, mimicking insect vocalization and biophony sounds in Symbolic Sound Kyma by layering a lot of synthesised stream of small band of very high frequencies (hence the inspireful source name Tinnitus).
Now you can create soundscape by layering, rotating, expanding and shrinking the FuMa/ambiX file. You can also re-construct the 360° sound panorama from binaural up to 7.1 surround.
You’ll find 100 loopable variations of FOA FuMa/ambiX interleaved files (4 channels), with a duration of 30 seconds each.

We recorded the Cantabria Country in Spainan area belonging to Green Spain, the name given to the strip of land between the Bay of Biscay and the Cantabrian Mountains, so called because of its particularly lush vegetation, due to the wet and moderate oceanic climate. The climate is strongly influenced by Atlantic Ocean winds trapped by the mountains.
Recorded in ambisonic format, 48Khz and 24 bits HD. As always, top quality recordings specially designed for film audio projects.

GT Series Pass-By compiles over an hour of sports cars racing at a private event, meaning there’s little to no crowd conversations or unnecessary background noise. Recorded at two distinct locations, you’ll find on this library long takes at the finish line and on the tightest corner of this particular race track, meaning there’s plenty of engines revving and driving off into the distance, perfect for media scenes situated on these settings, or for creative sound design since these takes were recorded at 5 meters from the vehicles themselves.

There are many great independent sound effect libraries available these days. The main problem with having so many, is keeping track of them!
