Sound effects libraries where the file names and metadata follow the Universal Category System (UCS), championed by renowned sound supervisor Tim Nielsen & more

  • All aboard!

Steam Train Vol. 1 delivers authentic sounds of a British steam locomotive.

Whistles, chugging, wheels on railway tracks, steam hissing, passenger voices, engine clicks and more were captured in the heart of the industrial revolution – the North West of England.

These field recordings were carefully captured and edited by our Audio Craftsmen, resulting in a concise collection of mechanical, industrial steam train sounds – complete with rattles, clanks and chugga-chugga-choo-choos!

Use this library to enhance period settings, design steam train scenes, and reference an age gone-by. Ideal for TV, Film, Documentary and Game projects alike.

All sounds are delivered in 24Bit 96kHz format allowing further sonic manipulation, and have been tagged with extensive UCS-compliant metadata for ease of use.

The immersive quality of these sounds make them ideal for eatery settings or scenes involving food. Use them to craft realistic, dynamic backgrounds in your Film, TV and Game projects.

  • Environments & Ambiences Northern Italy Play Track 22 sounds included, 90 mins total $28

Northern Italy is 90 minutes/2.9 Gb of ambiance recordings of rural Northern Italy. 22 separate files – recorded in 24bit/96kHz A-B stereo. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

Northern Italy was recorded in July 2019 (pre-Covid), and features ambiance recordings from just outside the small village of Entratico, near Bergamo, Italy. This is hill-country, with meandering gravel-roads, small farms, sheep-bells and lots of crickets. In fact, in this terrain, insects seem to be the only sound sources which are always near. Everything else, from dogs and roosters, to church-bells and airplanes, seems always to be distant. Lots of laid-back rural atmosphere here.

Crickets are quite a dominant feature in these recordings, and there are several variations recorded both day & night. Some are quite loud (the ones with “LOUD” in the file names), so be careful with playback.

  • Garden and nature in April. Fresh spring air with birds’ concert in the morning, echoey chatter from the neighborhood, gardening, dogs barking, roosters calling, jets and prop passing, as well as the dead silence and eerie animals in the deep of the night; the awakening of nature and residents during the early morning hours and much more.

‘Residential Forest II’ is the 2nd library in my series of long term recordings in a German allotment environment. The area is a remote place surrounded by a forest with cottages, ponds and lots of nature sounds. The library is a conflation of suburban, residential and forest ambiences.

‘Residential Forest II’ contains 59 unique ambiences, recorded in Germany during spring, in April 2022 from 4 p.m. till 4 p.m. on the next day. Out of these 24 hours of ambiences I edited the best parts and collected them to a 4 GB time travel in sound, from afternoon to evening, through the night, morning and mid day hours in a residential forest area.

For recording as well the dead silence during the night I chose an extreme low noise matched pair of Rode NT 1A and the Tascam HD-P1.

The whole length of the library is about 4 hours, most of the ambiences are between 5 – 10 minutes, some are longer, a few are shorter.

‘Residential Forest II’ is recorded in AB Stereophony, 48 kHz, 24 bit.

  • Environments & Ambiences Ludo Nature Ambience Play Track 12 sounds included, 25 mins total $10

In this library you will find features recordings of outdoor ambiences captured in the peaceful location in Ludo in the middle of Ria Formosa.
Most of this protected area corresponds to the Ria Formosa lagoon system, a string of islands and sandy peninsulas that extend parallel to the coast, thus protecting a lagoon where a labyrinth of marshes, channels, mudflats and islets develops.
These sounds are perfect for background sound design in movies, games, documentaries, art installations, etc.

These sounds were all recorded with the stereo microphone Audio-Technica BP4025.

After working these sounds in post production, this library comes with 12 incredible nature ambient sounds.

  • Environments & Ambiences Ironworks Play Track 23 sounds included, 53 mins total $20

The library includes the ambient and mechanical devices loops from industrial ironworks—oxygen pumps, crankshaft devices, boring machines, fans, etc.

Quiet ambient room tones are ideal for atmosphere and suspense in video games. Mechanical devices suited for starting points in sound design steampunk vehicles, weapons, and authentic devices.

  • Metal Sound Effects Medieval Smithy Play Track 30+ sounds included, 10 mins total $20

This sound library includes the sound of hammer impacts, mallet hits on an anvil, many foleys such as pick and drop clamps, hammer on an anvil, and stand. In addition, it consists of water sizzle, working bellows (load, no-load, fire, no fire), and horseshoe clanks.

A recording session was in a native Ukrainian village in the smithy.

All files have a natural reverb effect with a short tail, so I decided not to touch it for a more natural-sounding.

I used two Oktava MK 012 mics and Shure FP33 Stereo Mixer for boosting with analog limiters.

  • Foley Sound Effects Green Witch’s Cauldron Play Track 450 sounds included, 13 mins total $29

  • Water & Ocean Sounds Sea & Surf Play Track 49 sounds included, 360 mins total $55

Sea & Surf is nearly 6 hours / 11 GB of wave sound effects – some over 15 minutes long.
    49 separate files
    – recorded in 24bit/96kHz. All sounds are UCS-compatible.

Sea & Surf represents a decade of collecting wave sound effects on Danish shores. With over 7000 km of coastline to record, there is a bit of everything here. From the shallow waters of Aarhus Bay, to the roaring North Sea at Hanstholm on the shoulder of Jutland, I recorded waves crashing, splashing, lapping and even clucking.

I visited marinas, jetties, breakwaters, piers, a lake, and even the inside of a WW2-era concrete bunker. Here are close-ups from the waterline, from between the boulders of a breakwater and waves clucking quietly on the rocky coast of Bornholm.

At the North Sea, I recorded in several positions, from right in the waterline, to behind large sand dunes. I made sure to set up my microphones at several elevations, to capture the variation in sound this affords. These are not squeaky-clean recordings, as some of the quieter ones do contain the odd bird sound here and there. You will also hear grasses and other vegetation rustled by the wind, but that all adds to the realism, of course!

Recording waves is a bit like recording wind, by the way, in that it is basically white noise and can quickly be reduced to sounding like it – if you stand in the wrong place. This is probably the “soothing” quality, many people hear in wave sounds. However, there is a lot more to water waves than relaxation sounds, and so I’ve always attempted to capture the drama and the variation, along with the more obvious wave sounds.

Recordings were made in A-B stereo as well as X/Y, with the M/S sources included in the download. This gives you more flexibility to widen or narrow the sounds in post-production. Microphones used were both Sennheiser MKH series and Primo EM172 omni electret capsules.

Some recordings are focused on the distant perspective, while others zoom in on each wave impacting a surface, which is where M/S lets you choose how sharply you want to frame the sound.

  • In this library you will find recordings made by tracking a herd of wild Roosevelt Elk in the Pacific Northwest and recording them in the fall at the beginning of the “rut” when the males begin competing for attention of the females. Recording this library I quickly found that searching for a single target species to record is quite different than choosing a location and recording whatever happens to be there. New challenges were presented and a great deal of planning went into finding where the herd was likely to be at the time. With a brilliant stroke of luck all that planning paid off on the first attempt!

    Included are 30 sounds of:

    • Bull elk bugling
    • Bull elk sparring and clashing antlers
    • Calves calling

All the recordings were made in the same morning, meaning they can be plugged into the same game with a minimal amount of ambience matching. Note that although I made use of a parabolic mic during the recording, because these are wild animals I kept distance and hid behind a bush, staying out of sight of the elk so as not to disturb them. This introduces some extra “air” or ambience into the recording which I have chosen not to remove in order to preserve the integrity of the sound of the elk and to leave this option for you to decide.

I’ve already done the hard part of finding the elk and recording them for you, now you can focus on the creativity of your project.

All sounds are designed and stylized, but room was left in the mix for the sounds to be used as components in your own work. Included are fight impacts, stone and metal impacts, explosions and the splat of a skull crushing. This library comes with full metadata and is UCS Compliant.
